Why History?

When it comes to history, many people ask, "Why bother? It's history and no longer pertains to us." That is where people are wrong. There is a reason why my blog is called History: Yesterday, today, and tomorrow. That reason is that history pertains to what was yesterday, what is going on today, and where the future may be going. For without history, we would not be what we are today. Without the history of our parents, grandparents, or even great grandparents, and beyond, we would not have today. History is VERY important to understand, so we may understand what is happening today and where it may lead us.

So why should we bother to know history?
Answer: So we may better our knowledge of yesterday, today, tomorrow, and the days to come.

  1. I agree, but I think that the biggest problem isn't a lack of desire to know what happened in the past. Rather, I think the reason why people aren't interested is because so few teachers connect the dots so that people can understand the impact of yesterday with today. We need teachers who can trace those points from the past, and bring them home with today's issues. :-)
